November 2019 eBirding Challenge

ebirding-challenge-logo-800px-281x300October has been a busy month for bird watchers across the globe. From national events like Wildlife Week and Wild Bird Day, this month also saw global campaigns like Global Bird Rescue and World Migratory Bird Day. With this month and its eBirding challenge coming to an end, it is time to announce November’s challenge.

Birders are spending more time outdoors now that the winter migration is in full swing. Soon the wetlands will be full of ducks, gulls, and other waterfowl. Flycatchers and warblers will liven up the woods with their songs and sallies. If you haven’t planned birding trips this month then do consider visiting your local patches regularly.

November’s monthly challenge is to upload at least 15 lists between 01-15 November, and another 15 lists from 16-30 November. All lists should be complete (ie, you report all species you have been able to identify by sight or sound) with no ‘X’s. The lists should be effort-based lists (eg, ‘Travelling’ or ‘Stationary’, not ‘Incidental’), and should be based on a birding session of at least 15 min.

The results of the November monthly challenge will be announced after 10 December 2019, so please submit all your checklists before this date

Also, keep an eye out for the global eBirding challenge of the month on global eBird website; and here in India, we also have a series of year-long challenges.

Important: If you are new to eBird, please read this description first, and do take a look at our quick-start infographic. You could also upload your observations using the eBird mobile app.
