Your privacy is important to us. It is Bird Count India’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website, https://birdcount.in/.

Information we collect

  1. Personal information such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address.

    We only ask for personal information when we truly need it, for example when you sign up to receive our newsletter, when you register for an event, or when you leave a comment on the website. We collect this information by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent; and only in connection with specific activities, such as campaigns, feedback, surveys, email newsletter subscriptions, comments, and registration for events. We will also let you know why we’re collecting it and how it will be used. We use MailChimp as our mailing automation platform to send you Newsletters. By signing up to the Newsletters, you acknowledge that the information you provide will be transferred to MailChimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms.

    When announcing the results of monthly, yearly and any other eBIrding challenges or events, we list the names (but never any other personal information) of those who have met the challenge targets. Your name is public by default on eBird, but if you have set your eBird preferences to be anonymous, we will exclude your name from the challenges and the list of names.

    We use Google Analytics to collect data such as IP address (the location of the computer on the internet), pages accessed and files downloaded. This helps us to determine how many individuals use our site, how many people visit on a regular basis, which pages are most popular, and which pages are least popular. This information doesn’t tell us anything about who you are, it simply allows us to monitor and improve our service.

How long the information be held?

We only retain collected information for as long as necessary. What data we store, we’ll protect within reasonable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
We don’t share any personally identifying information publicly, except when required to by law. We promise never to sell your data to any third party.
