September 2016 eBirding Challenge

ebirding-challenge-logo-800px-281x300While we wait to find out who meets the August Monthly Challenge target, it’s time to announce the challenge for September. September is an exciting periodĀ and as the migrants continue to fly in, a lot of changes take place with our birdlife during this time. To track these changes over the course of the month,Ā one just needs to be regularly birding.

The challenge for September is to upload at least SIX 15-minute (or longer), no-X, complete checklists icon_tooltipĀ per week.

The weeks are counted like this: seven days each, except for the last week, which includes all the remaining days of the month. So the weeks in September are: 1-7 September, 8-14 September, 15-21 September and 22-30 September.

Making six lists in a week might not appear to be an easyĀ task, but one can meet the target without much effort!Ā You might enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on the balcony early in the morning while itā€™s still cool ā€” thereā€™s a 15 min bird list already! Or if you go for an evening walk, or visit a park on the weekend. Birding need not wait for a special trip to a fabulous habitat!

Please upload all your lists by 5 OctoberĀ so that we can announce the results the next day. All birders who reach the target will be named and recognized on this website. One of these names will be chosen at random to receive a small birding-related gift in appreciation.

Here are theĀ general rules of our monthly challenges. Do check out theĀ yearlong challengesĀ as well! You can keep track ofĀ fresh lists coming in from India at this page.

Important.Ā if you are new to eBird, pleaseĀ read this description first, and do take a look at theĀ Beginnerā€™s Guide.
