GBBC 2017: Stories from the field

Campus Bird Count 2017 in Gujarat

I have developed the bird watching hobby since last 18 months. This is my second campus bird count experience. Being a teacher in a high school, I have motivated young students in cultivating bird watching as their hobby and got a tremendous response. Our students & colleagues joined the campus count in our school & other campuses with great enthusiasm.

Along with Mr Sivakumar Swaminathan and Ramee Nagarajan, we conducted campus count in ISRO campus and two of its residential colonies where a big group of as many as 40 young children and parents joined the count. The interest shown by the young generation is highly commendable. It is a great pleasure to involve the youngsters in the event.

I personally enjoyed the event immensely. It had been a great learning experience for me.

I am grateful to Bird count India for organizing this event & give us an platform to come together and spread the awareness. The documentation had been excellent. The event is definitely helpful in developing citizen science help achieve our goals.
