September 2024 eBirding Challenge

ebirding-challenge-logo-800px-281x300Sharing your eBird list is a fantastic way to contribute to citizen science and connect with others who share your passion for birds. This September, we’re focusing on the power of sharing! Plus, don’t miss the bonus challenge towards the end—it’s all about contributing to the ‘Big Butterfly Month‘.

This month’s challenge is to upload a minimum of 30 eligible* lists, with the goal of sharing at least 4 out of these 30 lists with fellow eBirders.

Shared lists could be lists that another person has shared with you or you have shared with someone else. The only requirement is that all people on the shared checklist were birding together at the same time and place. Once shared, each person can edit the list specifically to what they see– deleting missed species, and adding species that others may not have seen. In this way, everyone on the trip can keep a faithful record of what they saw. More details about checklist sharing are here.

* Eligible checklists are those that report all species seen/heard (and are therefore marked ‘complete’), report numbers for all species rather than Xs, and are of at least 15 minutes or longer in duration.

Here are some Quick Videos to guide you on how to share checklists:

1. Share eBird checklist through eBird web
2. Share eBird checklist through eBird Mobile App

Please upload all your lists by 10 October 2024 so that we can announce the results soon after that.

Here are details about eBird-India’s Yearlong Challenge for 2024. You can keep track of fresh lists coming in from India on this page.
