Rufous-tailed Srub Robin (Cercotrichas galactotes) has a southern temperate breeding range extending eastwards from southern Europe and North Africa to Central Asia. The entire global population winters in Africa and is a true passage migrant through the Indian Subcontinent.
On its way to Africa, the easternmost populations migrate through northwestern and western India where they can be easily seen during September. On the way back, it largely bypasses the country like many other species, moving north through the Arabian peninsula instead. Several other species show similar migratory patterns including Spotted Flycatcher, Greater Whitethroat, Red-tailed Shrike, Red-backed Shrike, Eurasian Nightjar and Eurasian Scops Owl!
