Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) has a widespread range in Eurasia, Africa and Australia and shows some complex movement patterns.
Populations in the Scandinavian tundra (where they inhabit coastal waters), Eastern Europe and temperate Asia migrate south during the winter. Although Great Cormorant is resident in many parts of South Asia, central and East Asian birds likely migrate to Northeast India and supplement populations resident in the northern and eastern parts of the Indian subcontinent.
