Common Rosefinch (Carpodacus erythrinus) is another species that breeds across the Eurasian temperate and taiga realms.
Western and central populations winter largely in the Indian Subcontinent while eastern populations winter in Southeast Asia. Three birds satellite tagged in Sweden made their way to Pakistan and western India to spend the winter!
Common Rosefinch joins Greenish Warbler, Blyth’s Reed Warbler, Booted Warbler, Red-breasted Flycatcher and Bluethroat whose European populations (including Western Europe) winter almost entirely in the Indian Subcontinent!
