May 2014 eBirding Challenge

challenge-logoWhile we wait until 5th May to allow enough time for eBirders to enter their April lists, it’s time to announce the May eBirding Challenge!

The IPL is on, and in recognition of the central role that cricket plays in our bat-and-ball-mad Nation, this month’s Challenge has a cricketing flavour. Here is the challenge: score at least one boundary every week in May. Translated, this means the target is to upload at least 4 complete bird lists in each of the weeks of May (with the extra days at the end being absorbed into the last week). To make it a bit clearer, upload at least 4 lists during each of these time periods: 1-7, 8-14, 15-21, and 21-31 May. Please upload all your May lists by 5 June so that we can announce the results on 6 June.

Remember: multiple lists on a single day also count (eg, two 30-min lists on 16 May are counted as two lists towards the challenge). All birders who reach this target will be named and recognized on our website. One of these names will be chosen at random to receive a small birding-related gift in appreciation.

Do take a look also at the general rules of our monthly challenges, and please pay heed to the exhortation at the bottom of that page!

You can keep track of fresh lists coming in from India at this page.

And if you are new to eBird, please read this description first, and do take a look at the Beginner’s Guide.
