October 2024 eBirding Challenge

ebirding-challenge-logo-800px-281x300October is an exciting month—festivals are around the corner, and the main migration is ramping up. Almost all regions of India are now reporting migrants. It’s the perfect time to seek out migratory birds, whether you stay close to home or, like a migrant, plan to travel far away! No matter where you are, consider joining India’s annual autumn birding event—Wild Bird Day on 12th October!

The eBird-India challenge for October is to upload a minimum of 30 eligible* lists, with a specific requirement to upload at least 4 out of these 30 lists on 12th October.

* Eligible checklists are those that report all species seen/heard (and are therefore marked ‘complete’), report numbers for all species rather than ‘X’, and are of at least 15 minutes or longer in duration.

By participating in Wild Bird Day, you are also participating in the October Big Day, the Global Bird Weekend and commemorating World Migratory Bird Day!

Please upload all your lists by 10 November 2024 so that we can announce the results soon after that.

Do also consider participating in this new event —Dusserha Roller Count (3–12 October).
