Congratulations to everyone involved in the very successful Tokhü Emong Bird Count!

Everyday, at least 18 birdwatchers from Nagaland came together for the 4 days (34 birdwatchers on Day 3!), and documented 220 species in 333 checklists! Participants represented 11 districts.

Among the species reported were the following classed as of High Priority in the SoIB 2023 report: Naga Wren-Babbler, Olive-backed Pipit, Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher, Blyth’s Tragopan, Blue Rock-Thrush, Eurasian Kestrel, Plumbeous Redstart, Dark-rumped Swift.

Thanks to all birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts from across the state who made this event a success. A special shout out to all the TEBC district coordinators and educators who planned, organized, and conducted various birding activities in their respective regions. Thank you to all those who conduct public bird walks and introduce new people to the wonders of birds and nature!
