Wilson’s Storm-Petrel (Oceanites oceanicus) is not our typical migrant as it breeds in the South Polar region and migrates northwards (rather than southwards) to visit us!
During winter in the Southern Hemisphere (summer for us in the Northern Hemisphere), this species migrates north to spend the non-breeding season in all but the northernmost oceans in the world.
Wilson’s Storm-Petrel is one of the most common pelagics in the Indian Ocean during the summer and monsoon.
