September 2020 eBirding Challenge

ebirding-challenge-logo-800px-281x300September is a powerful month in terms of bird activity. Be it a non-descript brown-grey warbler or a flock of grey-yellow buntings, migrants are flying into various parts of the country. Whether you are birding from your backyard or rooftop, do keep an eye out for such migrants as many are looking for a place for a pitstop. One great way to find out what migrants can be expected in your patch/ region is by exploring eBird Bar Charts!

To increase the chances of spotting migrants, this month’s challenge entails spending more time looking out for them.

The Twenty20 lists challenge for September entails uploading at least 20 lists during the 1st half of the month (1-15 Sept)and another 20  lists in the other half (16-30 Sept). Each list should be complete, of at least 15 mins duration, and with no ‘X’s.

Making 20 lists in two weeks might not appear to be an easy task, but one can meet the target by putting more effort during the weekend! (For example 5 lists during the week and 5 more on the weekends)

With ongoing pandemic restrictions in mind, please ensure that you adhere to all instructions by central and local authorities while birding.

Please upload all your lists by 10 October 2020 so that we can announce the results soon after that. Here are the general rules of our monthly challenges. And check out the yearlong challenges for 2020 as well! You can keep track of fresh lists coming in from India on this page.

Important. if you are new to eBird, please read this description first, and do take a look at our quick-start infographic and also the more comprehensive Beginner’s Guide.
