Tamiraparani Waterbird Count (TWC) is conducted in the Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu during January every year. It is coordinated by the Agasthyamalai Community Conservation Centre (ACCC) and involves several volunteers and institutions from the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The census is done for 2-3 days usually over a weekend and covers more than 50 wetlands. TWC has helped generate interest in water birds and nature in general in the landscape and build committed group of individuals to conserve wetlands in the region. To participate or get more details about TWC please write to [email protected] or call 9488063750.
